Remove the two plastic covers surrounding the steering column and the transponder ring and forcefully strike the lock face using the wooden dowel and hammer. After each striking insert the key and try to turn. Do not use contact cleaner, it is a drying agent. Use Lock-Ease as I originally suggested.
In last year, I fixed an ignition keys on My 1985 BMW 325e and 1993 Nisson Quest with different ignition key problems. Both required a replacement of ignition barrel/switch, re-key the switch to use the old key. I am lucky I had a resourceful BMW and Quest forums to show how. I believe the same mechanism for my ML320 ignition switch.

Well, for those of us who have had the radio not work through the ignition switch (meaning you had to turn it on and off with the radio switch and not the ignition switch), I found a solution! Replace the OEM radio! I transferred my lifetime Sirius account to a new Alpine head unit and the local shop hooked it up through the Bose amplifier and
Hi there. My 2010 Mercedes W204 C Class Manual was working quite fine. I parked it somewhere, and two hours later when I wanted to leave it would not start or even switch on. The stick key turns, but the car will not switch on or start. I changed key battery it did not help. I had the car towed home.
The ignition switch looks very nice inside, there's no "obvious" problems with it - no signs of corrosion, heat or mechanical damage. That doesn't mean it's OK, but there's nothing there that give me any clues. In the key, I found that they induction coil was broken, which is a common issue from what I understand.

jberks. The fan is controlled by an electronic regulator. The switch, whether digital or manual simply sends a small variable voltage to the regulator which then controls the fan speed. when they fail, these can make the fan do anything, including run flat out all the time or even speed up and slow down randomly.

GLK350 ignition problems. My 2012 Glk locked up completely would not start or turn over, the message on the cluster said 'remove key' and then 'reinsert key" could not get to move out of park, tried jumping the battery to no avail, it's a all wheel drive, was completely locked! Had to call a tow truck to have it moved to a Mercedes Dealer.
Hi there, My 2008 C300 with 90,000KM started to show ESL failure symptom 6 months ago after parking in my garage 4 weeks. It won't start intermittently, just like some members mentioned in this forum. The symptom was gone after two week's daily commuting. Two months ago, I decided to replace the rear brake pads and bleed brake fluid. Then leave one inside the car and keep the small metal manual key separate from the electronic key. In case the new key is giving you problems in a week month etc, you can open the car with the manual key, get the spare and immediately the next day go and get a new key.

Remove key from ignition. Hear ESL motor action and ESL locking tongue will extend. (Steering locked position.) Reinsert key. Hear ESL motor action and ESL locking tongue will retract. (Steering unlocked position.) Leave key in ignition. Disconnect battery noting that ESL is now in unlocked state. Leave key in ignition. Complete fastening of ESL.

I bought a 1999 SLK 230 Kompressor with 62000 miles on it a month ago. first, the key sometimes was hard and needed few tries to turn in ignition untill i turned it hard and broke it. went to the dealer and got new key but before that my friend took everything apart to try to start it with those wires under steering wheel. now, the ignition

If your Mercedes-Benz E320’s key won’t turn, check to see if the transmission is in Park. Many models will prevent the key from turning if the car isn’t in park when turned off. Make sure your car’s parking brake is enabled before you do anything else. This should prevent the car from rolling away if the transmission lock fails (or your
