I found several sellers offering an ags-101 screen on aliexpress for around 40 USD. Some include the necessary adapter for 32/40 pin GBAs. I'm ordering one once I get home and double check exactly which version GBA I have. That LOCA/Frontlight mod is just trash compared to these backlight screens. I'm super excited.

AGS-101 mod with a brighter screen. Does anyone know if on the AGS-101 mod there is a different spot I can solder the backlight wire to to make the screen brighter? Basically I want to try to have it be permanently as bright as the AGS-101 GBA SP on it's brighter setting. The GBA is less cramped but I heard it was rather bulky and can be uncomfortable to hold as well. I also wanna know if there is any difference between the fully modded GBA and the SP AGS-101 tech-wise that would make one a better choice. I’ve heard that the SP’s button reaction time might be better. Please help me make a decision PLEASE!

I thought japan didnt get the 101. Get a picture of the screen. Also I'm not 100% sure. But the "made in japan" and "C/ags-jpn" are contradictory. The c means it was made in china so it wouldn't be made in japan.
Hello I'm in the market for a Gameboy Advance sp. I just think they're so cool, but I can't seem to make a decision about the screen. Should I get the IPS v2, or the AGS 101? After doing some research, it seems the IPS v2 is superior, but at times I've seen the same exact shell with an AGS 101 going for more money. What's up with that?

It doesn't hurt that I can play my AGS one handed too. I find it awkward carrying around an AGB with a GB/C game in it, especially since it doesn't really fit in my pocket. I don't have the same issue with an AGS or when I'm playing GBA games. But other than that, here are some other reasons why some people might mod an AGB:
